Arvada Lightrail Groundbreaking Celebration

Arvada Lightrail Groundbreaking Celebration

I have lived in Arvada for a lot of my life.  Of course, I moved away in my late teens/early 20′s to spread my wings a bit and establish my independence, to go to college, to explore and learn about the world and about myself.

When we decided to buy our first place, we looked all over the Denver Metro area but decided, based on affordability, school quality, and downtown/mountain accessibility that Arvada was the right place for us to buy.

Which is why I am SO happy to hear that ground is finally being broken on the Lightrail line that will run through Arvada — woohoo!  I cannot wait to hop on the lightrail and head Downtown for happy hour or a baseball game.  I so look forward to commuting to my office by lightrail whenever possible.  And I cannot wait to see fewer cars on the road during rush hour!!

I am really proud of the way that Arvada is growing and innovating – we are seeing a ton of new businesses moving in, more walkable areas, and the same progressive and impressive Recreation and Education opportunities that I loved growing up, only better!

The improvements being made, as well as the lightrail line, will obviously raise property values in the area — which is why NOW is a great time to buy a house in Arvada, while it’s still very affordable and architecturally diverse.  Search for an Arvada, Colorado property here.

Planning for the Gold Line in Arvada has been in the process for nearly 10 years. On Wednesday, August 31, 2011, we will finally see ground moving on this important project for Arvada’s future! Please join the City of Arvada and RTD for the groundbreaking of the Olde Town Station.  The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the site of the station, near Webster and Grandview.

After the groundbreaking, at approximately 4:00 p.m. the festivities will continue in the Olde Town Square (near 57th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth), as Mayor Bob Frie inaugurates the RTD mock rail car display.  Music and fun will carry on into the afternoon with cool summer treats provided by local Arvada vendors on Grandview Avenue. The rail car display will be available for public viewing through September 14, 2011.

The Gold Line is part of RTD’s FasTracks project to build 122 miles of new commuter rail and light rail in the metro area. It is anticipated that the Olde Town Station will be open to passengers by the summer of 2016.
